Mass predation of the opuntia ficus indica crop continues unabated. I set squirrel traps last night, but nothing was in them this morning. My two sightings of a jack rabbit in the past week narryow the smoking gun response to this one culprit. I will obtain a trap large enough for this animal today. 75% of the crop has been ruined; I should be on my second tier of pads but this animal has destroyed the first year's growth and that leaves me at a severe disadvantage next year when I need a robust plant to bear fruit.
