Today I rototilled ground that I had broken up with the shovel after the last snow. This area must have been a tributary of Turkey Creek since there are many large rocks that can only have gotten here being transported downstream. I suspect this channel has been filled up by heavy equipment, but the evidence remains in the soil. Someone prior ot me had let oil drain onto the ground, which forms unbreakable clumps that have to be disposed of.

The rototilling exercise was difficult due to the rocks stopping the tines of the tiller. However, I opened up two small plots and planted alfalfa and oats and covered the seeds after watering several times.

The purpose of these plots is not to only grow fodder, but to start breaking up this tough clay soil and rebuilding it. I will move the Russian pyramid today into position between the two plots.
