The chicken enclosure is 'done' as far as being a containment vessel for the chickens and turkeys. I need more lumber, but that will have to wait until later this month. In the meantime, it's enclosed with some old corrugated metal I found at the edge of the property, buried for years. A lot of it is no good, but some is.

A stray cat entered the property about seven days ago, first having emerged from behind the sugar cane barrier. She has gradually moved into the house. She appears pregnant. She was skin and bones when she got here, having both front and back claws removed. The was therefore unable to hunt or defend herself. She is doing much better and will simply be a housecat from now on.

Javelina pressure has decreased, perhaps because coyotes have been active in the cactus field trying to catch rodents. Plans to install the electric fence continue as I figure how to power the fence.

Many cactus varieties didn't make it because of the extreme cold in the past week. What's left of them is in the potting shed with a small space heater running on a thermostat to prevent the interior from getting too cold.
