Work done:
- Dig hole for apricot tree obtained from Parkland Nursery. Filled with water to get more depth after soil softens.
- Dig soil in swale #3 to increase water penetration and seed collection.
- Dig soil in swale #23 to increase water penetration and seed collection.
- Dig primary holes for additional cactus at east end of property.
- Collected cut cactus from backyard and deposited those pads on north side of chicken enclosure. There will be no sun there so they should not curl.
- Decided to begin a bibliography for my first book on this cactus and arid agriculture experiment.
Observations:
- Sunflower and huauzontle is not expected to survive. We've had multiple nights of below freezing and frost on the ground in the morning.
- Cactus in the field show no damage and are still shiny.

This is the first grow site and plant breeding site. Expansion is under way to have a stock of four thousand (4,000) growing opuntia ficus indica and other varieties.
Our main goal here is to create hard freeze resistant stock and to open a nursery (wholesale and retail).
