- Work done:
- Daily watering for the last four weeks.
- Weeding and dry compost deposition.
- Picked most of the opuntia robusta fruit. Excellent taste and easy to peel.
- Picked semi-ripe ficus indica. This was essential due to predation by ants and wasps. Although green in color, pulp had good sugar and excellent taste.
- Newer fruit bud sets on cactus continue to turn yellow and fall off. They came too late in the season, though some of them might make it to maturity.
- Planted sprouted turmeric purchased on Facebook marketplace two weeks ago.
- Observations:
- First major rain two days ago. Rain again today. Monsoon in full force.
- Ficus indica pads starting to fatten up. The root field is so large that the additional rain did them a lot of good.
- Sorghum is starting to put on seed stalks, as is the millet.
- Predation by rabbits or other rodents appearing on cactus, especially ficus indica.
- Turmeric starting to sprout.

This is the first grow site and plant breeding site. Expansion is under way to have a stock of four thousand (4,000) growing opuntia ficus indica and other varieties.
Our main goal here is to create hard freeze resistant stock and to open a nursery (wholesale and retail).
