Alberto Soares de Melo, Ph.D.

Associate Professor at the State University of Paraíba-UEPB, Brazil, Department of Biology and the Postgraduate Program in Agricultural Sciences. He graduated as an Agricultural Engineer from the University of Viçosa, Brazil, in 1994. He received his doctorate in Natural Resources from the Federal University of Campina Grande, Brazil, in 2007. He is also a Research Productivity Fellow of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development - CNPq. His research interests are: ecophysiology of plants grown in semi-arid ecosystems, with an emphasis on the efficient use of water, and the use of elicitors in the mechanism of water stress in plants. He has published more than 120 peer-reviewed articles in the field of Plant Science. He is a reviewer of projects for funding agencies such as  –CNPq; Research Support Foundation of the State of Pernambuco - FACEPE, and Research Support Foundation of the State of Paraíba - FAPESQ-PB, and member of the UEPB Publications Editorial Board.
